I recently read some interesting words about the importance of having trumps as strong as possible if there was any likelyhood of a Moysian fit. On that basis, if you have to guess which major partner might hold, you might as well select the stronger one - in this case spades. You might say that smacks of being a result merchant on this hand - maybe - but imagine spade3 became a small heart in West's hand. Would you rather be in 4spade with that four-three fit, or 4heart with the current layout?

At the table East bid 4heart and South led diamondJ. How would you play?
