Declarer's play was naive, but the defenders found the one defence that gave them a chance to defeat the contract. For instance, on a spade lead declarer can win, play a heart to the ace, ruff a heart high and play a trump. With both as potential entries (clubA and diamondJ}) still there and the hearts established declarer simply knocks out diamondA and claims.
