With three rounds to go in the initial qualifying round-robin of the 1994 Rosenblum Teams World Championships, the USA team of Seymon Deutsch, Michael Rosenberg, Roger Bates, Chip Martel, Lew Stansby and Gaylor Kasle were virtually sure to be eliminated. Indeed Deutsch, the team captain, had already travelled home.

There he received an unexpected phone call from Rosenberg, "Sorry to wake you, Seymon, but you'll have to come back - we're still in the World Championships !"
