I would hazard a guess that after hearing a response from partner at the two level, the majority of today's tournament players would use a rebid in a new suit as a one round force, so 2heart would have been OK here. It depends on style of course, as some Acol players would still prefer to rebid 3heart on this hand, and indeed 2heart was chosen at one table, 3heart at the other.

The rebids seemed to make no difference in practice, for 6spade was reached at both tables.
