# brave lion or just loony?

No doubt you cashed a top club and rapidly switched to a low spade to kill a potential entry to dummy before the diamonds were established. Believe it or not, not only did Culbertson lead a low club, but he split his diamond honours when South led diamond9 at trick two! This second error was particularly surprising for it gave South no losing option. He surely would have risen with a high diamond in the vain hope of finding diamondQJ bare with East - or at least losing a third round of diamonds to West. So instead of going three off South brought home his combined twenty point 4NT contract - not many of us have achieved that!
