. . . at one table North correctly interpreted his partner's diamond2 as showing five - after all declarer was more likely to have one than three on this bidding. North therefore switched to a club to prematurely remove West's entries to dummy. After seeing his partner's club7, on winning with heartK he played another club - dummy was dead and North came to two spade tricks. One off.

At another table East-West reached an adventurous 6club. Declarer won the trump switch at trick two, drew trumps and eventually ruffed out North's heartK to score plus 1370. Top score!
