Although I accept that North had an awkward choice, it didn't surprise me to see that North bid 4NT Blackwood "at the table" - I don't like it! Personally, I'd like to know what's wrong with 4heart? Having shown a very big hand, South would be shapely and highly unlikely to pass, and at least North will have shown where his values lay. South leapt to 6club to show his suit unambiguously and North correctly decided to pass.

Switching the spotlight to the East hand, how would you intend to defend when West kicks off with ace and another spade? Declarer cashes heartA throwing a diamond from hand and leads club9 from dummy. Where is second trick coming from?
