. . . well at least that was the theory. Unfortunately East was not playing ball and refused to hold diamondK that declarer had allocated to him. East was not squeezed and North was one off. Why hard luck? Well at the other table was 7spade was made on diamond lead(!) so at least this North-South had reached the correct contract. North was arguably unlucky in the line he took, but also because of the heart lead. Eh? Yes, West led a heart out of turn and North generously told him to put it back, waiving his right to a penalty card heart lead - from East!!! That was 20 IMPs away!

A final thought: what about leading diamondQ at trick three - takes a good West to duck without a flicker!
