The disposal of the diamond loser was the immediate problem, so Belladonna won diamondA, unblocked spadeA and played the clubs from the top. East ruffed the third round with heart10, so declarer overruffed, and disposed of diamond6 on spadeK. The diamond threat had now vanished, so Belladonna turned to the trumps by leading heart6 and running it! East won but his diamond continuation was ruffed in dummy and the happy trump situation meant that the slam came home ...
