Tim Rees had played this hand cleverly. West could not be absolutely sure who held clubJ - it would be catastrophic to duck if declarer had started with clubJ10xx - so West won with clubQ. Trumps had to be broached to prevent the club ruff in dummy, so West correctly led diamondQ to temporarily preserve his partner's trump trick. Declarer won and played ace and another spade, so West won spadeQ and continued with the king. South ruffed, exited with a club and guessed correctly to finesse when East led a diamond. 2diamond scored exactly eight tricks.
