# cue-bid

Berkowitz bid 5club. What were his reasons? His partner Larry Cohen had not used Stayman, and this was required by their system when holding four hearts. West was bound to be short of spades, so there would be one major suit loser at most, and Berkowitz bid 5club knowing it would have play opposite some very minimal West holdings. In addition, at this vulnerability 4spade doubled might not have yielded a good enough return, but 5club was still a well judged bid.

How would you play 7club on spade7 lead?
