Congratulations if you decided to play the nine - only one off! (You still cannot afford to draw trumps, so you concede a club ruff.) With 5spade cold, and six only defeated on ace and another heart, you have an excellent board. Of course I am being cruel, because it would take an outstanding view from East to play low on your club from dummy with ten clubs on view. At our table we were allowed to play in 5diamond for a monster board ... East did not play low on the club at trick three. At two tables North-South doubled 5spade and failed to lead a heart. Minus 1050! I watched the post mortem as one North rapidly metamorphosed into a green, antennae-glowing alien. He was last heard spouting "Support diamonds! Support diamonds!" in the Dalek voice mode of "Exterminate! Exterminate!".
