The only explanation for the play at the first two tricks is that North has started with spadeAJ and South has chosen to play spadeK at trick two to show a preference for diamonds rather than clubs. That means he has diamondA and North must be doubling on a likely holding of heartA9xx. If we naively plonk heartK (or heart10 etc) on the table North will eventually win, put his partner in with diamondA and receive a trump promotion when South leads spadeQ.
