To be quite honest, it wouldn't feel right recommending 4spade here, because I couldn't. But I have to manoeuvre the bidding to arrive in 4spade, so perhaps I should have suggested 4diamond as "Pick a major", or followed the prescribed bidding after all! As it is, you decide on 4spade but partner is immediately taken ill and you have go and play the dummy for him.

Funny how this situation occurs so regularly ..
