In today's hand I was playing with probably the best defender in the club. He does all the things that you expect of a really good defender. He finds the only lead to beat the contract. He grunts approvingly when you double the opposition and they go for 2300. He's kindness itself when it comes to cashing a winner at trick 12 - he'd much rather underlead his winner to allow you to win trick thirteen. In short, he's everything you'd care for in a partner/defender. This is not the case when you cock up the bidding, however, but more of that another time.

In today's hand, I suspect that SuperDefender would have found the correct defence, but I was found wanting.
