Double dummy analyser: makeable contracts
West North East South
2club* 2heart 4spade 5heart
5spade Pass Pass Pass

* Precision

West opened a Precision 2club, North butted in with 2heart and East bid lots of spades. Wild horses would not have prevented South supporting hearts, but West would not give up and bid 5spade. South led heartA against this and North dropped a lazy heart2, interpreted as suit preference. South's club2 switch was not a success and the contact succeeded. Surely North should have dropped heartQ on the table at trick one. That would have been an unmistakable demand for the necessary diamond swich.
