On the diamond lead an inspired declarer can cash spadeAK and lead heartQ, covered by the king and ace. The spadeQJ are now cashed, declarer discarding clubs, who now reverts to trumps to force out heartJ. She then ruffs the next club, cashes heart10 and plays on the side suits to make eleven tricks. Would declarer have found this line? We'll never know - possibly only if you had paused unnecessarily over 4heart, or doubled!

South would have been better off leading a club at trick one. After cashing two clubs the defence do best to continue the suit, although South always makes two trumps tricks.
