Our declarer under the spotlight won clubJ and led a spade to the queen?!! This lost to the king, and another club came back. When diamond9 was led from dummy East hopped up with diamondA to clear the club suit, so when a diamond followed to South's ten West was able to win diamondQ and cash two clubs. Nick Stevens, sitting East, made the careful and technically correct play of diamondA. This retains the late access for West's clubs, although declarer had already created another entry for West by his non-optimal play at trick two.

At our table Alan Langley showed how 3NT should be played.
