# Ugh!

At the other table where South had bid hearts and was very suspicious of the heartA play at trick one, this time from a lady declarer. East's eyes must have been a little more beguiling because South decided to lash down diamondA at trick three in the hope of cashing four diamonds. When North discouraged South switched back to hearts, but it was too late. Declarer ducked, won the heart continuation and took the spade finesse. Although North won and led a diamond, declarer was able to win diamondK and cash out for nine tricks.

This is clearly a good hand for Smith Peters. If North drops club9 on the first club then South is in no doubt as how to continue at trick three (or trick four if he decided to duck at trick two).
