South immediately led clubJ at trick two, hoping to induce a cover from West. When West unconcernedly played low, declarer ruffed in the dummy, drew trumps ending in hand and led a diamond to the queen and king. Placing clubK with East, declarer could be sure that spadeA was with West, otherwise East would have opened the bidding holding spadeA, diamondK and clubKQ. When East continued diamonds, West won diamondA and exited with another, won by dummy's jack. Declarer led spadeJ from dummy and, when East ducked, played low from hand!! After all, playing the king would be sure to lose to the ace. Declarer was not a beginner, but the world class Italian, Dano De Falco.

And East? He was no beginner ... just sick as a parrot.
