5diamond End
Back to 5diamond. East to make it on a spade lead. Declarer won and played a heart, won by North who continued spades. I will use Anthony's exact words:
I suspect you can always make 5diamond after that start without a defensive error. After ruffing the second spade, cash heartK and pitch dummy's last spade, then ruff a heart high and lead a trump. If North plays low you can ruff a second heart high and play a second trump and have control. If he rises and returns a trump you can win in hand, ruff your last heart and return with a club ruff to draw the last trump. This is not necessarily a double-dummy line, if North is a good player, as he wouldn't play heartA on the first round without shortage.
