Chagas won the opening lead in and hand and led a spade to West's ace. That was very good news, and Chagas won the trump continuation in dummy to led a diamond towards hand. It was now East's turn to give declarer some good news by flashing in with an ace and continuing with a trump. Chagas considered that a squeeze might be required for the tenth trick and led a low club intending to duck, but when West also played low Chagas assigned a club honour to East and went up with dummy's ace, dropping East's queen. Declarer continued to count out West's shape by ruffing a diamond and crossing to dummy's spadeK.
