Partner's diamond2 tells you that he has an odd number, so he might have five. Nevertheless, if you won this trick, your defence is finished. When you duck, declarer plays another diamond and you win. You continue with another club, declarer ruffs in dummy and exits with heartQ, felling partner's ten. As dummy has no more trumps left, you can now lead a club to partner's king and he can give you a diamond ruff.

As long as East retains control of the early red suit plays by ducking, the defence should always prevail. Had North a singleton diamond a cross ruff line would be likely so he would probably not have played an early round of trumps, giving a subtle clue to help you duck diamondA.
