At the table, dummy won and another heart was led. West won heartA, cashed heartQ to extract declarer's last trump and continued with a club. While East cashed his clubs, West ditched all his diamonds and the only remaining trick that South could muster was heart9 in dummy, West's hand being high.

5heart was seven light or 2000 (in old scoring) to East-West. South got greedy. If he abandons trumps when in with spadeK and simply plays on diamonds the result would have been at least 1500 less catastrophic.

Ten tricks are straightfoward with diamonds as trumps, and at the other table South chalked up +130.
