At many of the other tables East was less inspired. Most bid 4 and North knew what to do with that .. it usually resulted in 800 for N-S. 5
(!) played more easily and occasionally escaped for - 500. The juiciest penalty went to the N-S pair playing against a West who thought his hand warranted a 4
overcall. He didn't make it. Anyone for pass over 3
?
All in all, a nightmare. You had to defend well to have any chance, but getting to be a defender was so difficult.
