A correspondent sent me this story which would be funny if it wasn't so alarming. A local bridge teacher was playing with one of her pupils at the weekly club pairs evening and they arrived at my correspondent's table. He was sitting in the North seat and after the Good Evening and Acol with weak no trump formalities West opened with 3 and East responded 3NT. Nothing too strange about that you might say - except that West then bid 4NT Blackwood!! After hearing East's 5, showing two aces, West got cold feet and passed. North cashed an ace, the trumps broke badly and 5 was eventually one off. Some more tuition required there, you might say.

Indeed ... but West was the teacher! Eek!!!!!!!
