I hope you got this one right for you were given plenty of clues! You should have to have played spade10 in tempo - a tiny pause and the cat is out of the bag - declarer will know that you have ducked.

At the table East did indeed drop the ten of spades in tempo and South, fearing a 5-1 spade break, immediately switched to ace and another heart. That was one off.

The moral is that if you regularly need to think for too long then it is probably better to become a really slow player and grind them into submission. I know from experience - they hate it!
