Looking at his eleven sure tricks and without the mechanisms to find out about the heartQ (or even the diamondK), Koychou took the compromise route. He simply blasted 6spade. To settle for less would have been pusillanimous in the extreme, and possibly the majority of players today would have followed his chosen course - particularly after partner has passed originally.

Well that was straightforward, wasn't it? The bidding was easy, but how are you going to play 6spade on the diamond4 lead?
