The Spring Foursomes is one of the high kudos events in the English bridge calendar. One of its more unusual aspects is that teams are only eliminated after two defeats. Today's hand comes from an early final when the winning team had lost in a much earlier round. The team contained a certain Mike Pomfrey, who now supplements his income as a bridge teacher by winning shed loads of cash on the telly.
