The difficulty with opening 2club (or its 2diamond equivalent with weak twos) is that if partner responds 3club then your first suit is mentioned at the three level. That cramps the bidding significantly and leaves plenty of scope for misinterpretation if either partner goes on past 3NT. At the table North opened a very conservative 1heart and followed with an equally restrained 2diamond. Presumably this was forcing, or possibly 3diamond would have been a fragment bid showing a club fit and three diamonds, but in the end they reached 6diamond without any problems.
