My partner's 1spade put the frighteners on both North and South - that was understandable, and it would be impossible for them to reach 4spade as no sane West would be psyching at this vulnerability! But how or why did South select diamondK? North was no doubt perplexed when South switched to a heart, but North nearly fell off his chair when he cashed diamondA and saw South discard. Eventually he played another diamond, and the Madame Tussauds bridge continued as I played two top clubs only to see North show out. Both sides traded tricks as Ely Culbertson turned in his grave, but the final abomination was down to North as he waited to claim his spadeA for the setting trick.
