Last night we played in the annual county wide simultaneous pairs event, The George Taylor Memorial Trophy. All the deals were carefully selected by Paul Bowyer for their interesting and instructive aspects. Paul writes in the book of hands with his characteristically sardonic, yet highly amusing style of commentary and the post mortem is always a masochistic ordeal. In addition to all the sensible things that you didn't even think of, you can read of all manner of squeezes, coups and avoidance plays.

After all the various diabolical perpetrations heaped on my poor partner, Graham Marshall, the only avoidance play that I dare contemplate is to stay at home next year.
