When this hand occurred just before Christmas in 1987, South decided to explore further before deciding to settle in 4heart. First he bid his long suit, clubs, and when partner supported them he cue-bid diamonds. North made another cue-bid of 4heart and South leapt bravely to what was obviously going to be a thin slam.
