"Pony" Nehmert is one of Germany's best female players. I had the pleasure of meeting her during a Pachabo weekend in the early nineties, while she was kibitzing and I had been benched after ducking the opening lead as declarer when there were thirteen top tricks. Pony was very sympathetic, so I was understandably delighted for her when she won the Venice Cup in 1995.
