Declarer led clubQ from the dummy, covered by the king and ace - so Goldman dropped the jack!!!! Thinking that West started with a singleton, declarer crossed to dummy again and finessed club8. Goldman won with the nine and exited with a spade to establish a winner for himself. After running his club tricks South had to lead a diamond, so Goldman hopped up with the ace and cashed his spade winner for + 100.

Had Goldman not found this defence, no doubt declarer Christian Mari of France would have played another club and relied on the clubJ and diamondA being with West, to successfully land his game.
