Adopting a reverse-dummy approach, declarer played three rounds of clubs, ruffing high in hand. J was overtaken in dummy for the last club to be ruffed high. After cashing
A, East was known to be either 1-2-6-4 or 2-1-6-4. The odds heavily favoured West to hold
8 and Goldman led his last trump - the two - and finessed
7 in dummy! The remaining trumps were drawn and all that remained was to lead
5 towards South's queen. N-S +1430. Mr. Goldman obviously only finesses in the 50% of the time ... When they work!
