# why?

The last time we played this team (see Oct 20th 2000 ), a classic example of elimination play hand cropped up. This time, you guessed it, another one arose. The correct line is to win the trump switch in hand with heartQ and ruff a club, cross back to heartK and ruff the last club. The trumps having been 2-2, now is the time to lead a diamond to the queen. What is West to do? If he ducks you play another diamond towards the king and eventually end-play him with another to lead away from the spadeK. If he wins, he is immediately end-played to lead from one key honour, and then he is put back in with a diamond to succumb again. Double diamond works wonders.. But not for BPC
What was East doing - he should have doubled for an unexpected lead, or bid 4spade, which cannot be beaten!
