Declarer realised that the key to this hand is control. The natural inclination might be to play ace and another trump, but that would be very dangerous. In the Open Room declarer did just that, lost control of the hand and was defeated.

Nicola led heart8 from the dummy at trick three, and East decided to win and play a club through. West won and continued clubs, but declarer simply ruffed with heartA, drew trumps and ran the diamonds for ten tricks. Child's play.
