What now is a good question. You don't know whether to pass and hope for the best or bid 4heart and hope for at least an eight card fit. Partner won't know that you have five hearts - after all your 3heart bid could mean merely three cards to go along with his partner's nominal six. This means that you are always in danger of missing a eight or even nine card fit! Maybe an original 2spade (happy to proceed in hearts) works best from North, allowing the sequence to distil into an essentially normal one when South rebis 2NT.

Also, take a look at South's hand - should he have bid 4club - offering to play in either major suit?
