3NT of course! The lead was a small spade which went to the three, queen and king. Declarer cashed six rounds of hearts before playing spade8 to South's ace. Determined not to be end-played, South held on to her spade7 for grim death, and duly exited with it. Quite what happened to the North-South signalling process is not recorded, but East-West duly scored +600.

So there you have it: final contract 3NT, small spade lead, nine tricks made. Flat board?
