At the table declarer ran off five trumps, cashed spadeAK, heartA and ruffed a heart. Presumably he was hoping for some kind of strip squeeze, but it was not forthcoming. Eventually he lost a trick in each of the black suits. Of course, no doubt you have made it. After winning the opening lead, you simply drew trumps ending in hand and bunged the heart9 through West. Even if this had lost to a doubleton ten or queen, you still had several squeeze possibilities, for the count was now rectified. Indeed, by leading a small club East may even have transferred a menace to himself, as I have done so often. (That's what my partners say, anyway).

West found the only lead to give a chance to declarer, who must have been sick as the proverbial parrot.
