At trick three you duck a spade - simple isn't it? I'm sure that you got this right, because you're up there with the best.

You worked out that West cannot have five spades or he would have opened 1spade, and East cannot have four, because he would respond 1spade. Because you are going to need the spadeK within East's modest point count, you therefore must assume the clubA is with West - but not the queen or you have two club losers. You will play to ruff out the spadeK, but only after you have defused the defence's ability to give themselves a trump promotion. That's why you must postpone the deployment of spadeA to lead a club from dummy.
