If East shows out on the second diamond you ruff a third in the dummy, return to hand with a spade ruff and establish the diamonds with a final diamond ruff using dummy's last trump. Returning to hand with another spade ruff, you can draw West's remaining trump and cash your last two diamond tricks. The only trick that the defence makes is the last one.
I suspect that almost everyone would have solved this problem correctly .... except if it had occurred at the table!
