At the table South showed admirable composure. Assuming that the remaining distribution of the cards would be favourable, declarer crossed to dummy with clubK and ruffed another diamond low. After repeating this process via the clubQ, he said a little prayer before cashing the clubA. When West had to follow suit, declarer won two top hearts and led a third.

What could West do? To ruff contribute a low spade would allow a high cross-ruff for twelve tricks, so he went in with the ten. Declarer overruffed with the queen and ruffed a club with spadeK to leave this two card ending.
