The answer is stay wake! South is marked with almost all the remaining points, and to come down to spadeKQ and clubAJ9 will lead to an inevitable end-play. Declarer plays ace and one spade to put West in. What ever he does, South takes two of the last three tricks. For some reason, presumably the reluctance to assign West a five card major suit, declarer misjudged the situation, leaving West to say his prayers to St. Doze, patron saint of lousy defenders.
