West continued spades, looking like someone wanting to give her partner a ruff. Declarer won in hand, crossed to the diamondA and attempted to cash the spadeQ, on which he hoped to throw his heart. East foiled this plan by ruffing the spade with diamondJ, so declarer over-ruffed and played another to find the missing honours crashing. Winning with diamondK, East exited with a club to await his rightful heart tricks. He is still waiting. All of dummy's hearts went away on declarer's club winners and this revolting contract made for plus 600.
