I'm sure you immediately spotted the safety play to guard against Q10xx in either hand. To that end, Raymond played a trump to the king and led the eight, with the intention of running it when West played low. Bravo!

Unfortunately, East won with the ten and, realising that a safety play would not have been uppermost in South's mind if he had a heart loser, fired back a diamond for his partner to ruff! 6spade-1, minus 50.
