Instead of continuing diamonds, declarer cashed more trumps until he reached the five card ending shown in this frame. On the last spade, West was caught in a progressive squeeze. If he discarded a heart, the whole heart suit became winners, and if he chose an Ace dummy would continue with the newly created winner of the same suit to squeeze West again. In this way South made three overtricks. What would you have thought about it, had you been North at the first table? Were the second East-West really lunatics?
