Well, last night it was my first night of the new season in the league, and I sat there with my partner (a flair and flare player) hoping for a quiet 1NT on the first board, as mentioned previously. Not a chance. We were spared the precarious 6, but the oppo bid to a vulnerable 3NT after partner had opened 1. After 2 passes, partner is there with a double and then it's your turn to lead .. with what? Here's a clue - the lead of one suit will mean +500, and the others will require partner to take a brilliant view. Partner is either saying 'lead a heart!' or 'wake up partner, DON'T lead a heart!' - which is it to be? Choose before reading on.
