Declarer Woke Up In the Car

It's a strange paradox that simply by creating or illustrating a bridge problem, a writer implicitly helps readers to find the solution. An experienced player can often pick out the underlying 'lesson' of a deal within seconds because they are familiar with particular bidding or card-play situations. However, if the same deal had occurred down at the club, straight after refreshments (or possibly after a couple of beers or a gin and tonic), that very same player might be having a little doze. My partners tell me I doze all the time.

In today's hand, South found the solution when he'd woken up - In the car on the way home from the club.
